Abstract. Astăzi, în câmpul tehnologiei informaţiei, trăim timpuri într-adevăr exponenţiale. Pentru a avea o idee generală, primul mesaj text comercial a fost trimis în decembrie 1992, pe când astăzi numărul mesajelor text trimise şi recepţionate în fiecare zi depăşeşte populaţia totală a planetei. În termeni de hardware, numărul dispozitivelor Internet în 1984 era în jur de 1.000, pe când astăzi, conform lui Gartner, 4,9 miliarde de „obiecte” conectate vor fi în folosinţă la sfârşitul lui 2015.

Abstract. Today, in the field of information technology, we are living truly exponential times. To have a general idea, think that the first commercial text message was sent in December 1992, while today the number of text messages sent and received every day exceeds the total population of the planet. In terms of hardware, the number of Internet devices in 1984 was around 1,000, while today, according to Gartner, 4.9 billion connected “things” will be in use in at the end of 2015.¹
