Revoluţiile care au cuprins lumea arabă, în 2011, marchează nu numai reconfigurări geopolitice în Orientul Mijlociu Extins sau o nouă evoluție socială în statele arabe. Geopolitica zonei post-sovietice cunoaște, de asemenea, schimbări dramatice sub influența evenimentelor din lumea arabă. În timp ce multe regimuri autoritare din fostele state sovietice care au anticipat presiunea cetățenilor proprii se adună în jurul Kremlinului, doi actori principali ai geopoliticii continentale, Uniunea Europeană și Rusia, şi-au “ajustat” propriile strategii în spațiul post sovietic la transformările din Orientul Mijlociu. Se poate ca toate aceste procese să ducă la articularea unei structuri autoritariană în zona post-sovietică, dominată de Rusia.

Revolutions that swept the Arab world in 2011 mark not only geopolitical reconfigurations in the Broader Middle East or a new social evolution in Arab states. The geopolitics of the post Soviet area knows also dramatic changes under the influence of the events from the Arab world. While many authoritarian regimes from the former Soviet states having anticipated the pressure of own citizens are gathering around the Kremlin, two of the main players of continental geopolitics, the European Union and Russia, have „adjusted” their own strategies in the post Soviet area to the transformations from the Middle East. It may be that that all these processes lead to articulation of an authoritan structure in the post Soviet area, dominated by the Russia.
