On the occasion of the anniversary of the National Day of Romania and marking the beginning of the winter holidays, the Embassy of Romania in Egypt, in the high dimension curricular formulas of economic diplomacy, organized, on December 5, in the garden of the Embassy, a meeting with the members of the Romanian community in Egypt and the representatives of the Romanian defense industry companies. The mentioned agenda was marked by the presence of an official delegation from Romania, which was in Egypt to participate in the prestigious international fair dedicated to the defense industry EDEX 2023 Cairo. The Ambassador of Romania to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Her Excellency Ms. Olivia Toderean and the entire team of experts of the mission participated, constantly and effectively, in an advanced dimension of expertise, in the preparation, coordination and guidance of contact formulas between Romania and Egypt, for the development of the process of cooperation in the field of armaments and military equipment. Thus, the specific Romanian industry was present in Cairo, with a national stand.
Also, under the auspices of Patromil, together with ARICE, several companies from the national defense industry, some private and some state-owned, participated in the EDEX 2021 international military technical exhibition in Egypt involving sustainable, macro strategies in the discussion process and negotiations with international counterpart partners, including the North American gauge players, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, etc.
The national stand of Romania was organized by Patromil, with the participation of ARICE. The representatives of the defense industry in Romania generated a major global effect, Romania being, in the future, appreciated and respected at a high level, internationally, in the areas and fields of reference: military, defense, security, intelligence, etc.
It was the second edition of EDEX 2021.
The Romanian delegation was represented in Egypt and at the political level, in Cairo being officially present also government representatives and, in particular, from the Ministry of Economy.
The Romanian defense industry, through its representatives, proposes, hopes and is optimistic that the year 2024 will materialize the discussions held in Egypt.
At the same time, the Romanian stand at the exhibition was also visited by the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The Romanian defense industry companies that, under the auspices of Patromil, were present and exhibited their products, services and systems, in HALL 2 venue A181, within the military equipment exhibition in Egypt, were: C.N. ROMTECHNICA, C.N. ROMARM, PROOPTICA, IAA S.A., INTERACTIVE, BLUE SPACE TECHNOLOGY, CERTSIGN, DRASS, TITAN HEAVY MACHINES.
It is relevant that the representatives of the Patromil management have already invited the Egyptian side to next year’s BSDA – Black Sea Defense and Aerospace (BSDA 2022) exhibition, which will take place in May, on the occasion of which the Romanian defense industry drew firmly, the bilateral agenda in the mentioned fields and in the emerging sectors, to sign such agreements and contracts, discussed and mutually evaluated with the Egyptian side and not only, at the EDEX Cairo exhibition, edition 2021.
Not without importance is also the aspect according to which the discussions between the two parties were held at the highest political level for cooperation, in the field of the defense industry between Romania and Egypt, the two states having an important bilateral relationship, the formula in question stating- in line with the visit that President Klaus Iohannis made to Egypt last month, the Romanian head of state discussed with the Egyptian President El-Sisi, including the cooperation between Bucharest and Cairo, in the area of defense, and the presence of the respective political delegation , who accompanied the representatives of the Romanian defense industry to the international arms exhibition, confirms our country’s interest in developing relations with the African state.
Discussions about cooperation in the field of the defense industry took place this summer, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu and Sameh Hassan Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt. The meeting in July, between the heads of the two diplomats, took place on the sidelines of the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.
At the same time, Romania’s agenda at EDEX 2023 was marked by advanced and substantial discussions and negotiations, for the first time in the world, carried out by Romanian NATO experts, with representatives of the leadership of the largest global player in the field of Security (Maritime, Aviation & Cyber), prestigious Vanguard Global Security & Defense organization, on the axes: High Net Worth & Executive Protection Globally, Government, Corporate & Industrial Risk Management, Facility & Asset Protection, Secure International Logistics & Transport, Military Contracting, generating a significant follow up.
In such situations, Vanguard Global Security and Defence’s Managing Director, Tim Elabd, confirmed his presence, as part of a specialized agenda, in Romania, in the next period, in which context, together with Romanian organizations and companies in the field, he will launch a series of joint strategic programs, at the most advanced level of expertise in the matter, in the private military contracting and Defense Overseas Programs sectors and which will be established, developed and operated abroad, a global framework that thus definitively consecrates the presence, participation and the roles of Romania, as an active player, in the respective international areas and sectors, within the select world elite in the field and subject.
