Ukraine will receive a complete short-range air defence system under a new agreement with the French government and French multinational company Thales.
French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu and Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov met with Thales officials to tour the production facilities, confirm the order, and sign the contract in Limours on 1 February.
The new equipment will include complete short-range air defence systems, a Ground Master 200 (GM200) radar, a command-and-control centre, a radio communications system, and air target designators.
The GM200 multi-mission radar protects armed forces from air threats with a “sense and warn” capability. It provides armed forces with launch and impact threat coordinates for multiple, simultaneous threats, and allows forces to seek refuge from detected attacks.
