Abstract. The Department of Political and Peace-building Affairs (DPPA) has an important role in the United Nations actions to prevent deadly conflicts and in order to build sustainable peace. Together with its Department of Peace Operations, they help put into practice the security objectives of the United Nations Security Council. But building strategic leadership and strategic management in international organizations goes way beyond the general objectives of one or more departments that held security objectives. Before dealing with geostrategic decisions, international organizations must understand the importance of the local and national stakeholders. The purpose of this article is to establish the importance of leadership in public organizations, and to see how its fundamentals can be implemented into taking geostrategic decisions.

INTRODUCTION
The importance of ideal leaders has been discussed lately. They are a key human resource within the organization. They also contribute to developing people’s skills, but also products that can compete effectively with those offered by rivals.
The organization’s high performance of human resources is the focal point for success. This can only be ensured if there is a high quality of management action.1
Leadership is an important factor in ensuring organizational success. It is also the art or process of influencing people to perform their assigned tasks on a voluntary, efficient and competent basis. With good leadership, organizational culture is not forced but developed and communication is effective and open (based on trust and appreciation). All members of the organization realize the organization’s vision and objectives and make an essential contribution to how they can be improved, even changed. People feel that they are an important part of the organization and do their best to achieve the goals they have set, and this is due to the existence of effective leadership.2
