Abstract. Russian Federation trough a strong political-military leadership since the early years of this century was a competitive military power. Ultramodern combat techniques and high-tech technologies introduced into the military system favored theoretical and practical-applicative studies of war becoming modern.
The demands of the modern war imposed new forms of armed confrontation. Firstly the ”frozen conflict”, with the amplification of its political dimension and then the ”Hybrid War” based on operational-actional asymmetry towards its adversary tend to improve upon postmodern feature.
The implementation of the two forms of warfare began in areas of Russia’s strategic interest and the successes determined the European expansion of the use the ”Hybrid War”, to which NATO is not sufficiently prepared.
