The National Conference ”The World Today between Reality and Controversy”, organized by the Society for Historical Sciences of Romania – Bucharest branch, ”Ion Conea” Geopolitical Association, Geopolitica Magazine, in partnership with the ”Mihai Viteazul” National College and ”Decebal” High School, Bucharest, took place Saturday, March 18 this year, in the hall of the ”Mihai Viteazul” National College, Bucharest.
The event benefited from the numerous presence of members of the ”Ion Conea” Geopolitical Association, GeoPolitica Magazine, of the Society of Historical Sciences in Romania – Bucharest branch, academics and teachers, diplomats, journalists, public relations and international relations specialists and over 200 students of classes XI and XII, in the two national colleges. Guests of honor were: HE. Ambassador Paraschiva Bădescu, OSCE, diplomat, and general (r) univ. prof. Anghel Andreescu, PhD, member of the Academy of Scientists.
In the first part of the event conferred HE Ambassador Paraschiva Bădescu, general (r) univ. prof. Anghel Andreescu, PhD, prof. Vasile Simileanu, PhD, Director of GeoPolitica Magazine, Vice President of ”Ion Conea” Geopolitical Association. In the second part, the conference included lectures of univ. prof. Nicu Ponoaţă, PhD, Vice President of Historical Sciences Society of Romania, prof. Sever Popa, Director of ”Mihai Viteazul” National College, and prof. Bibic Coman, Director of ”Decebal” High School. Moderator: prof. Gabriel Georgescu.
The guest speakers presented various dimensions of globalization process, EU situation after Brexit and implications of the measure on the construction of a united Europe, the crisis in Ukraine, the situation of the Black Sea Region, US and NATO efforts to strengthen Eastern and South-Eastern flank of the Alliance, US – Russian Federation relations, in the light of the election of the US President Donald Trump, attempts to resume the dialogue NATO Council – Russia, social, economic, political and cultural aspects, that influence and arise from recent events that took place in Turkey and Middle East, the phenomenon of migration and its effects on Europe.
The young participants have shown a keen interest in the topic and the issue debated, as evidenced by the more than 20 questions to guest speakers. At the end of the event the majority of the participants received from the organizers certificates of excellence and participation.
