Turkish Businessmen Association (TIAD) in partnership with the Embassy and Trade Representation of Turkey in Romania organized on March 21, 2017, the Romanian-Turkish Business Forum on ”Development of economic and trade relations between Turkey and Romania”. The event, which was a manifestation of the exchange of ideas on business and investments in Romania, as well as bilateral economic relations between Romania and Turkey, was attended by HE Osman Koray Ertaş, Ambassador of Turkey, Alexandru Petrescu, Minister of Environmental Affairs, Trade and Entrepreneurship, Murat Demiray, president of TIAD, Mükerrem Aksoy, commercial counselor of the Embassy of Turkey, Sayin Halim Mete, vice president of TOBB, Ufuk Tandoğan, CEO of Garanti Bank Romania, Mr. Esat Özoğuz, CEO Kastamonu Integrated Romania, Gianina Crăciun, CEO Adeco, commercial attaches, businessmen.
The issues addressed were excellent bilateral relations between Romania and Turkey and thus the EU, private sector investment and not only the foreign trade between the two countries. There are over 14,000 Turkish companies in Romania (3rd), which invest and create jobs and are paying the taxes. There are efforts to increase investment. The result of discussions showed that Turkey’s relations with Romania were very close, now becoming strategic partners. Turkey and Romania are interested in developing relations in other dimensions. Foreign trade between the two countries in the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 was more than 4 billion euros, and in the near future provides an annual 7 billion dollars, final target is the figure of 10 billion dollars, an ambitious target which would benefit businessmen and all Turkish and Romanian citizens.
The organizers wanted to provide participants with answers to questions related to cultural relations, economic and other relations with Romania.
They discussed projects and opportunities in the energy sector, construction – Turkish companies have an important position in the world and want to establish a consortium with companies in Romania, and other industries.
