Abstract. Valul de migraţie din 2015 a arătat că Europa şi chiar restul lumii au o problemă complexă. Dezastre apărând în ultimii ani au arătat că Europa nu e gata pentru “ultimul val” şi disperarea marilor mase nu ia nimic în consideraţie.

Securitatea sofisticată şi sistemele de supraveghere ale Uniunii Europene s-au dovedit ineficiente în acest tip de situaţii. Mai mult, legislaţia relevantă s-a devenit inadecvată şi generatoare de noi probleme. Instituţiile UE sunt în mod clar depăşite şi statele europene care ofereau un vis pentru refugiaţi şi migranţi, acum stau pe poziţii diametral opuse.

Moartea atâtor oameni în tentativa lor disperată de traversare a Mării Mediterane şi a ajunge în Europa, nu mai este doar o alarmă, este deja o tragedie în curs.

Abstract. The 2015 migration wave showed that Europe and even the rest of the world have a complex problem. Disasters occurring in the recent years have shown that Europe is not ready for this “last wave” and the desperation of large masses takes nothing into consideration.

Sophisticated security and surveillance systems of the European Union have proved inefficient in this kind of situations. Moreover, the relevant legislation has been proven to be inadequate and generating new problems. The EU institutions are clearly overwhelmed and European countries that offered a dream for refugees and migrants, now stand diametrically opposed positions.

The death of so many people in their desperate attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea and reach Europe, it is not anymore just an alarm, but it is already a tragedy ongoing.
