The Danube and the Black Sea are extremely important elements of Europe, representing a genuine system of transport and communication to resource -rich areas, but also the shortest waterway for the majority of the European countries to the Mediterranean Sea, the Orient and the Southern Hemisphere.
Romania holds the key position in this system because it has direct access to nearly half the length of the Danube waterway and it has access to its arms and the Danube- Black Sea Canal belongs entirely to Romania. This is an obvious advantage, but in the whirlwind of diplomatic and economic interests and in the very changeable diplomatic intricacy of intrigues, should not be neglected the geostrategic coordinates of the Danube and Black Sea, which are more persistent over time and with unpredictable conflict potential.
