As is known, Cyprus Problem has been using its currency since years and depending on developments faced in international conjuncture, this problem comes into prominence from time to time and sometimes it is left in the background. Nevertheless, in general it is observed that Cyprus Problem covers an important part of domestic and foreign policies of Turkey especially since second half of 1974 and has an important effect over Turkish foreign policy. The main reason of this fact is that no permanent solution has been found for the problem yet. Due to such latest developments, this problem has been handled by most of scientists and has been analyzed from all perspectives. The purpose of this study is to forward the historic development of Cyprus problem in general terms and to analyze the attitudes and thesis of parties within the period ending 1974. It is argued that unless such an analysis is made, it is not possible to understand real reasons of 1974 Peace Operation.

Cum se ştie, Problema Cipru a utilizat moneda sa de ani şi depinzînd de evenimentele înfruntate în conjunctura internaţională, această problemă a devenit proeminentă din când în când şi uneori este lăsată în fundal. Totuşi, în general se observă că Problema Cipru acoperă o parte importantă a politicilor domestice şi externe ale Turciei în special după a doua jumătate a lui 1974 şi a avut un efect important asupra politicii externe turce. Principalul motiv al acetui fapt este că nicio soluţie permanentă nu a fost găsită încă pentru problemă. Din cauza unor asemenea evoluţii tardive, problema a fost mânuită de mulţi dintre oamenii de ştiinţă şi a fost analizată din toate perspectivele. Scopul acestui studiu este să înainteze problema evoluţiei istorice a problemei Cipru în termeni generali şi să analizeze atitudinile şi tezele părţilor în perioada terminată în 1974. Se argumentează că în afară de situaţia când o astfel de analiză este făcută, nu este posibil să fie înţelese motivele reale ale Operaţiunii de Pace din 1974.
