România și Azerbaidjan au trecut prin multe schimbări strategice în ultimele două decenii devenind, în zilele noastre, extrem de valoroase la nivel geopolitic, în principal din cauza participării la proiectele Coridorului de Gaz Sudic. În cadrul acestor proiecte, importanța Azerbaidjanului este dată de resursele sale naturale de gaze care îl fac un potențial furnizor, în timp ce poziția geografică din România îl recomandă ca un stat de tranzit ideal.
Relațiile dintre cele două țări, care au atins nivelul de parteneriat strategic, sunt esențiale pentru dezvoltarea proiectelor energetice din regiune, președintele Republicii Azerbaidjan, având în vedere participarea lor la aceste proiecte, în special la Interconectorul Azerbaidjan – Georgia – România (AGRI), ca “făcând istorie”.

Romania and Azerbaijan have gone through many strategic changes in the last two decades becoming, now-a-days, extremely valuable at geopolitical level mainly because of their participation to the Southern Gas Corridor projects. In these projects, Azerbaijan’s importance is given by its natural gas resources which make it a potential supplier, while Romania’s geographical position recommend it as an ideal transit state.
The relations between the two countries, which have reached the level of strategic partnership, are essential for the development of the energetic projects in the region, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan considering their participation to these projects, especially to Azerbaijan – Georgia – Romania – Interconnector (AGRI), as ‘making history’.
