”Dating from 1906, the flag of Saudi Arabia is based of country’s Muslim religion. The inscription on the flag means There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is the Prophet, of Allah. The sword stands for the Sa’udi family’s determination to impose their rule on Arabia. The green background commemorates the Prophet Mohammed“.

”The flag of Iran dates back to 1910 although the flag in its current form was adopted after the Shah was expelled. The emblem in the centre is a sword surrounded by crescents. This represents Islāmic values and Allah (God). Along the edge of each stripe repeated 22 times are the Allah Akbar (God is great)“.
