American economist Paul Krugman used blunt words to classify the tariffs imposed by Donald Trump against Brazil.
In a letter sent to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), the President of the United States announced a 50% tax on Brazilian exports starting August 1st.
In an article published on Substack , Krugman says these tariffs represent a “dictator protection program.”
According to the expert, who won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2008 and is a professor at the City University of New York, in the USA, Trump ‘s latest move “marks a new direction” for tariff policies, which he calls “demonic and megalomaniacal.”
