Abstract. Montenegro, although a small country, has become an important issue, due to geopolitical and geostrategic reasons, when an extremely fragile parliamentary majority must achieve integration into NATO and the majority of the people does not agree with it. The US and the NATO countries must accelerate the process of Montenegro’s NATO integration because there is the danger that the will of the people to be quickly seized by Russia and Serbia. Thus, through a referendum, the integration of Montenegro into NATO will be stopped, while Russia will acquire an extremely important geopolitical and geostrategic position in the Balkans and the Mediterranean.

The consequences would be extremely serious and, of course, Russia will make, quickly, other moves in this equation. Therefore, Montenegro’s integration into NATO is more than a priority, it is an extreme emergency.
