It is known that the relations between the United States and Iran began in the mid to late 1800s, but the hostility between these two countries appeared after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, when the pro-American Shah had been outset and replaced with the anti-American Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini. Thereby, one of the most urgent foreign policy challenges for the Obama administration is Iran. Iran policy is a puzzle, including Tehran’s nuclear activities, its hostility to Israel, its role in Iraq and Afghanistan, its support for Hamas and Hezbollah and the nature of the Islamic republic itself.
That’s why in this article I am trying to highlight how the United States Foreign/Security Policy (henceforth USFSP) have changed following the inauguration of President Obama. President Obama’s foreign policy is determined by several factors, among them his own foreign policy program presented during the election campaign developments and reality of the global strategic environment, domestic and international perceptions of the American foreign policy and of course, long-term strategic interests of the United States.

Este cunoscut faptul că relațiile dintre Statele Unite și Iran au început la mijlocul anilor 1800, dar ostilitatea dintre aceste două țări a apărut după Revoluția iraniană  din 1979, când Shahul pro-american a fost alungat și înlocuit cu Liderul suprem, ayatollahul Khomeini, anti-american. Astfel, una dintre cele mai urgente provocări de politică externă pentru administrația Obama este Iranul. Politica Iranului este un puzzle, inclusiv activitățile nucleare ale Teheranului, ostilitatea faţă de Israel, rolul său în Irak și Afganistan, sprijinul său pentru Hamas și Hezbollah și natura republicii islamice în sine.
De aceea, în acest articol am încercat să evidențiem modul în care Politica Externă / de Securitate a Statelor Unite (United States Foreign/Security Policy, în continuare USFSP) s-a schimbat după inaugurarea președintelui Obama. Politica externă a președintelui Obama este determinată de mai mulți factori, printre care propriul său program de politică externă prezentat în timpul evoluției campaniei electorale și realitatea mediului global strategic, percepțiile interne și internaționale ale politicii externe americane și, desigur, interesele strategice pe termen lung ale Statelor Unite.
