I have loved movies all my life—just not in the cringe-worthy, squirmy, narcistic, bloviated, Nicole Kidman AMC trailer kind of way.
My love of the films comes from an obsession over what they say about us. Good, bad, or unwatchable, movies are most important because they have so much to say about who we are, how we are changing, and what we want to become.
I think when a future alien race gets here and roots through our dusty remains, they will care less about the skeletal bits and pieces, trashy remnants of our cities, and what the heck is a smart watch. They will hold endless colloquiums debating the meaning of our movies. I never expected writing movie lists to become a thing. Other people asked me to write them. I like to help people. So I did. Then I stopped when they were not looking.
That said over the years I have compiled more than a few lists, so I thought I would list all of them here and why I wrote them.
